Yesterday (June 16) during the 6th day of the Jazz Fest I made it to the Lutheran Church Of Reformation for the ‘Nordic Jazz Now’ series. Playing was Eivind Opsvik and his band ‘Overseas’.
Last night (June 14th) during the 5th day of the Jazz Fest, an audience at the Eastman Theater got a long and energetic performance from Herbie Hancock. The concert consisted of upbeat tunes that mainly highlighted his music of the 1970’s and his current work.
The first half featured many songs from Herbie’s two classic jazz-funk albums, ‘Headhunters’ (1973) and ‘Thrust’ (1974). The band opened with ‘Actual Proof’ (Thrust) and after that performed a hybrid of ‘Watermelon Man’ (as played on Headhunters) and guitarist Lionel Loucke’s piece ‘Seven Teens’.

“The Incredible Machine Tour”
